Made to measure folding sliding doors
Also referred to as bifold doors, multifold doors, trifold doors and concertina doors folding sliding doors will enhance any home by providing an unobstructed opening of up to 6 metres. The folding sliding door shown here is a 3 panel aluminium door with a traffic door on the left allowing normal single door access from inside or outside the house. When required the shoot bolt locking system is released which enables all 3 panels to fold and slide to the right. This aluminium bifold door opens out but an open in configuration can also be provided. Door styles will vary depending on the width of the opening and whether upvc, timber or aluminium bifold doors are required.

External Bifold Doors
Adding an external bifold door to your home truly opens up your living space allowing natural light to flood in whilst providing the opportunity to bring the outside inside.
As you can see here two sets of black aluminium folding sliding doors have been added to this property with stunning effect allowing easy wide access to the garden and patio. The doors have been specified with a low threshold and feature Staycool solar control energy efficient 1.1 U-value double glazing.
Internal Bifold Doors
Using the low threshold option our aluminium bifold doors are the perfect solution for separating your conservatory from your house. At only 20mm high the threshold can be sunk into the floor if required so that when the door is fully open you will enjoy a seamless integration of the two living spaces. All our folding sliding doors offer low or flush threshold options especially designed to be used internally.
When installed in this situation closing the bifold door not only secures the main house from the conservatory but also provides an additional insulation barrier during the colder months of the year. Building regulations state that doors seperating the house and conservatory must be of external quality and all our sliding folding doors fully conform to building regulations doc L.

Conservatory Bifold Doors
Folding sliding doors can also be specified in new conservatories where they are increasingly used to replace traditional french or sliding patio doors. Their wider unobstructed opening enables easier access from the conservatory onto your patio which is great for barbecues in the summer but also for simply enjoying your garden views from the comfort of your conservatory.
Until recently installing folding sliding doors in a conservatory often meant an expensive steel portal frame was also required to provide adequate structural support for the roof preventing any possible deflection when the doors are fully open. However Ultraframe have now introduced a Super Duty eaves beam option specifically designed for use in conservatories which provides a heavy duty eaves beam capable of supporting the roof above the bifold door. Depending on the dimensions and the style of your conservatory it is now possible to install folding sliding doors up to 3500mm wide without the need for additional steel work. This upvc conservatory is fitted with UPVC bifolding doors which open up the complete front elevation to great affect.

Slim Sightlines
All our folding sliding doors are designed to provide slim sightlines ensuring maximum glass widths although the actual panel widths will depend on the configuration of the door and the product chosen. Bifold doors with panels folding and sliding in the same direction will generally offer the least amount of profile width between the glass whilst other configurations may require additional profiles such as meeting stiles that will increase the sightline size. Timberlook UPVC Bifolding Doors shown above have a slim sightline of just 132mm when panels slide and fold in the same direction.
Flush Threshold Options
Whether you choose our Timberlook PVCu bifolding doors, Visofold aluminium bifold doors or our range of hardwood folding sliding doors each system offers several threshold options to suit your needs ranging from conventional 'step-over' to low thresholds which can be sunk into the the brickwork or floor to provide virtually flush thresholds which is especially useful for internal doors. High Security Locking
All FD2U bifolding doors feature high security locking as standard. Traffic doors are fitted with hook bolt locking operated by lever handles(Visofold aluminium bifold doors illustrated) and are fitted with profile key cylinders for internal and external access. Bifold doors without traffic doors are fitted with internally operated shoot bolt locking to intermediate panels and do not have external handles.

In many parts of the country we can provide a full supply and fit service for your new bifolding door. Your installation will also be covered by a ten year insurance backed guarantee and if required a FENSA certificate will also be provided to confirm compliance with building regulations.

DIY Installation
FD2U folding sliding doors are suitable for do it yourself installation or can also be installed by your builder. Our survey guide will provide the basics for measuring the aperture and deciding on the manufacturing size of your new diy bifolding doors.
Aluminium and UPVC Bifolding doors up to 4 panels wide and 2200mm high will normally be supplied fully assembled with the double glazed sealed units supplied seperately for glazing after installation. If you have restricted access from the point of delivery to the required installation point and cannot accept delivery of the door fully assembled please be sure to advise us at time of order. Larger doors and all timber folding doors are supplied in assembly kit form for ease of transportation and handling.
Your new folding sliding door will be supplied with full installation instructions. To ensure a trouble-free installation it is important that the bifold door is fitted square and plumb in the aperture and the threshold and cill is fully supported and level along it's full length. Instructions are also provided for glazing the door including how to correctly pack the double glazed sealed units to ensure your new bifolding door operates smoothly.
How to order
Your new folding door will be manufactured to your requirements and since we want to ensure your door arrives exactly as you selected we don't offer an online ordering facility. When you are ready to order please call or email your contact number and we'll call you so we can guide you through the ordering process discussing all the options that are available to you. All order details are confirmed to you by email for you to approve before processing for manufacture.
Payment Terms
We accept all major credit and debit cards at no extra cost or you can pay by internet bank transfer or PayPal. We require 50% deposit at time of order and the balance is payable by cleared funds five working days prior to your agreed delivery date.
Delivery
FD2U folding sliding doors are delivered free to mainland UK destinations excluding the Scottish Highlands for which an additional charge may apply. We normally deliver using a fleet of 7.5 ton vehicles although sometimes use articulated vehicles so please be sure to advise us if there are any restrictions for these type of vehicles at your location.
Our folding sliding doors are delivered with glass separate and some doors may be delivered with the outer frame shipped in an assembly kit form due to transport restrictions or where the customer has specified limited access to site. Doors are supplied shrink wrapped in tough polythene to ensure they reach you in pristine condition.
Important Note
Folding sliding doors are very heavy items especially when supplied fully fabricated. We provide a kerb-side delivery service and it is the customer's responsibility to provide adequate labour to offload the door on delivery and please check that you have enough clearance to be able to relocate a fully assembled door to the installation location. If there are restrictions please request an assembly kit and we will deliver the door outer frame for your new uPVC or aluminium bifold doors in kit form for re-assembly on site. Softwood and hardwood folding sliding doors are always supplied in kit form.
