The three panel design shown here has a traffic door on the left allowing easy access from inside or outside the house. When required the shoot bolt locking system is released which enables all 3 panels to fold and slide to the right. This aluminium bifold door opens out but an open in configuration can also be provided. Bring the outside inside
Adding a folding sliding door to your home truly opens up your living space allowing natural light to flood in whilst providing the opportunity to bring the outside inside.

As you can see here two sets of black aluminium bifold doors have been added to this property with stunning effect. Featuring a low threshold and fitted with our Staycool solar control energy efficient 1.1 U-value double glazing they provide easy wide access to the patio and garden.
Internal Bifold Doors

Using the low threshold option our aluminium folding doors are the perfect solution for separating your conservatory from your house. At only 20mm high the threshold can be sunk into the floor if required so that when the door is fully open you will enjoy a seamless integration of the two living spaces. All our door systems offer low or flush threshold options that are specifically designed for internal use.
When installed in this situation the bifold not only secures the main house from the conservatory but also provides an additional insulation barrier during the colder months of the year. Building regulations require that doors seperating the house and conservatory must be of external quality and our specifications fully conform to current building regulations doc L.
This image has been provided by one of our customers and shows how installing aluminium bifold doors fitted with a low threshold provide full integration of the kitchen with the conservatory which is being used primarily as a dining room.

Integral Blinds
Our complete range of folding sliding doors are available with integrated blinds shown here fitted in a Timberlook upvc bifold door. The blinds are encapsulated within the double glazed sealed units and are controlled by a unique sliding magnet system that eliminates the need for external cords.
Perfect for conservatories
Folding sliding doors can also be specified in new conservatories where they are increasingly used to replace traditional french or patio doors. Their wider unobstructed opening enables easier access from the conservatory onto your patio which is great for barbecues in the summer but also for simply enjoying the view of your garden from the comfort of your conservatory.
Until recently installing this type of door in a conservatory often meant an expensive steel portal frame was also required to provide adequate structural support for the roof. However Ultraframe have now introduced a Super Duty eaves beam option specifically designed for use in conservatories which provides a heavy duty eaves beam capable of supporting the roof above any folding sliding door. Depending on the dimensions and the style of your conservatory it is now possible to install bifolding doors up to 3200mm wide without the need for additional steel work.
More information on our range of conservatories with folding sliding doors is available on our sister site TC2U.
Slim Sightlines
All our bifolds are designed to provide slim sightlines ensuring maximum glass widths although the actual panel widths will depend on the configuration of the door and the product chosen. Designs incorporating panels folding and sliding in the same direction will generally offer the least amount of profile width between the glass whilst other configurations may require additional profiles such as meeting stiles that will increase the sightline size. The technical details page for each type of folding sliding door will provide the relevant information but do not hesitate to ask for more details if required.
Timberlook UPVC Bifolding Doors shown above have a slim sightline of just 132mm when panels slide and fold in the same direction.
Flush Threshold Options
Whether you choose uPVC, aluminium or hardwood each system offers several threshold options to suit your needs ranging from conventional 'step-over' to low thresholds which can be sunk into the the brickwork or floor to provide virtually flush thresholds which is especially useful for internal doors. The image shown is our Timberlook upvc bifold door low threshold but full details of all types can be found in the 'Threshold options' of each door type.
High Security Locking
All FD2U bifolding doors feature high security locking as standard. Traffic doors are fitted with hook bolt locking operated by lever handles(Timberlook uPVC illustrated) and are fitted with profile key cylinders for internal and external access. Configurations without traffic doors are fitted with internally operated shoot bolt locking to intermediate panels and do not have external handles. Please note handle style may vary to that shown.
